Highlighting the contested nature of sport in Aotearoa New Zealand: An edited collection

Damion Sturm’s and Roslyn Kerr’s edited collection Sport in Aotearoa New Zealand: Contested Terrain (Routledge) investigates the sporting traditions, successes, systems, “terrains” and contemporary issues that underpin sport in New Zealand, also known by its Māori name of Aotearoa. Our reviewer is Rod Philpot, who enjoyed reading the book and gained new understandings of sport, sportspeople and sporting and recreational activities that are occurring in his own backyard.

Sport, Education and Society, Volume 25, 2020, Issue 1

Sport, Education and Society encourages contributions from social scientists and educationalists studying the relationships between pedagogy, ‘the body’ and society as well as from all professionals with theoretical and empirical interests relating to policy, curriculum, social inclusion, equity and identity, and progressive educational development in physical activity, health and sport.

Not a final statement but a starting point: timely and extremely useful handbook for qualitative sport studies

Just in time for the publication of Mark Brooke’s review of the Routledge Handbook of Qualitative Research in Sport and Exercise, edited by Brett Smith & Andrew C. Sparkes, Routledge chose to release the paperback edition, thereby decreasing the RRP from £190 to £40 – which is good, given that the book, according to our reviewer, is a valuable tool for social and cultural science scholars in the field of sport and exercise.

    Om konsten att vara mentor

I tjugo kapitel författade av trettio forskare från den engelskspråkiga världen och tre från universitetet i Jyväskylä utreds grundligt mentorskapets alla aspekter i boken Mentoring in Physical Education and Sports Coaching, sammanställd av Fiona C. Chambers (Routledge). Bara en sak skaver, tycker vår recensent Pia Lundquist Wanneberg.

Många bra bidrag hänger i luften i redaktionssvag coaching-antologi
