In his latest book, Why Would Anyone Do That? Lifestyle Sport in the Twenty-First Century (Rutgers University Press) Stephen Poulson revisits his childhood experiences of action sports. Åke Nilsén, also sociologist, also expert in the field, takes issue with parts of Poulson’s conceptual and theoretical foundations. But he likes the thick descriptions of Poulson’s own action sport adventures.
