The seminar is a part of ”Göteborgsvarvet seminarier” in cooperation with University of Gothenburg. International lecturers and medically responsible for some of the world's largest running events gather during Göteborgsvarvet to talk about screening before the race, medical planning for extreme situations, and epidemiology of cardiac arrest at marathons.

This seminar offers an interdisciplinary dialogue on running, with a particular focus on the interface between running and landscape. The seminar will be combined with an excursion (focusing on the long history of planning for fitness running in Sweden), as a way to open up for complementary discussions in the field.

Although thoroughly studied by live science specialists for the last three decades, East-African athletics has seldom caught attention of social and human scientists. This conference offers an opportunity for scientists from either sport sciences or social and human sciences to present communications on any subject related to East-African athletics.
