The rationale for this Special Issue is to contribute to knowledge with a collection of papers on socio-cultural outcomes and impacts as effects of mega-events on host communities from a multidisciplinary perspective. We will explore the methodological and conceptual challenges such work poses, and showcase opportunities and efforts for mitigating the unsustainable aspects of mega-event policies and practices.

This panel discussion reveals more about researchers' experiences when navigating archives, as well as the collection policies related to Olympics/Paralympics of GLAM organisations. There is a broad mix of physical, digitised and born digital resources will be covered in the presentations. The event is hosted by BSSH Chair, Raf Nicholson and moderated by BSSH Secretary Geoff Levett.

The purpose of Olimpianos – Journal of Olympic Studies is to provide a channel for communication and academic dissemination within Olympic and Paralympic studies. The scope s directed in 3 broad areas, humanities and Olympic Studies, governance and Olympic Studies, and communication, marketing and Olympic studies. The journal is Open Access.

Papers about Olympic media, legacy, tourism, consumers, organizations, finance, economics, environment, Paralympics, politics and other Olympic-related topics for a double-blind review process are welcome. Everything related to sustainability and in particular to the environmental sustainability is in particular welcome. The official language for abstracts and the symposium is English.

Scholars, researchers, students, and professionals interested in the socio-cultural study of the modern Olympic and Paralympic Games are invited to submit abstracts. Papers in the areas of history, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, political science, cultural studies, and sport management, as well as other disciplines that contribute to our cultural understanding of the Games are particularly encouraged.

This symposium offers presentations and discussions on the preparations, performances and experiences from OWG 2018. Speakers include Helge Bartnes, Norway; Peter Reinebo, Sweden; Mika Kojonkoski,Finland; Matthias Felix Gilgien, Norway; Olli Ohtonen, Finland; Stefan Lindinger, Sweden.

In this symposium, we will investigate the changes accompanying the 2012 London Olympics, the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and the preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The meeting will focus on existing research and interventions concerning the ways that global events have been accompanied by urban transformations and new forms of social (dis)advantage and exclusions.

This special issue of the Journal of Sport and Social Issues asks: how are East Asian networks of lifestyle sport enthusiasts, workers, governing bodies, and associated communities-ecologies forming? What are the politics of the worlds, experiences, values, and imaginaries coming about (or being blocked)? How is such being negotiated by humans and non-humans?

Taking place just before the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the workshop aims to provide information and analysis on the state of sport in the Arab World through the multidisciplinary lenses of political science, history, economics, business, and law, among others.
