The aim is to bring together sport and exercise psychology researchers and practitioners whose work focuses on social justice and praxis, marginalized communities, participants lacking scholarly attention, or that falls outside the positivist mainstream of sport psychology. A main purpose of this symposium is to bring together people passionate about these issues so that we can share our work as well as support and encourage each other. The symposium structure will encourage interaction and dialogue.

Our vision is to promote the “Performance under pressure” theme with a scientific and a practice-oriented program. We will ensure to have outstanding keynote speakers and exciting symposia, workshops, individual oral and poster presentations as well as a science and an applied slam. We have already received very positive responses from our European colleagues who we asked to be part of the scientific and applied committees.

The Symposium will consist of sport and exercise psychology research and praxis presentations as individual presentations and symposia. All presentations should clearly relate to the overall topic of social justice. Presentations must be original work, including theoretical or conceptual topics, reviews of literature, praxis or professional practice, creative teaching practices, and/or policy. Individuals are limited to two submissions.

The conference is a student-driven event targeting traditionally underrepresented undergraduate and graduate students (e.g. students of color, LGBTIQ students, students with disabilities) and early career professionals interested in careers in applied sport, exercise, and performance psychology. Through a variety of discussions, presentations, and networking opportunities, the conference provides a space for open dialogue around diversity and social justice issues in applied sport and exercise settings.
