In 2019 the ‘Fields of Vision’ sport and art network will be hosting ‘Knowing the Score’, a one day conference to bring together scholars, practitioners and the public to discuss the wide and varied links between music and sport. So we welcome proposals for papers, panel discussions or performances – and we would especially welcome new and innovative approaches to presentations.

Abstracts are welcome on any area of philosophy of sport (broadly construed), including metaphysics, epistemology, aesthetics, and ethics, and from any theoretical approach, including analytic philosophy and critical theory. While IAPS recognizes, values, and encourages interdisciplinary approaches and methodologies, acceptance is contingent on the philosophical content of the project.

We invite essays on sport literature (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, or film) or on the rhetoric of sport. Cultural-studies approaches to sport texts are welcome. We also encourage sessions featuring presenters’ original fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. Original prose and poetry may be presented in a regular panel or during an evening readings session.
