Scholars, researchers, students, and professionals interested in the socio-cultural study of the modern Olympic and Paralympic Games are invited to submit abstracts. Papers in the areas of history, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, political science, cultural studies, and sport management, as well as other disciplines that contribute to our cultural understanding of the Games are particularly encouraged.

The Applied Sport Management Association (ASMA) aims to build strong connections between scholars studying sport and practitioners working in the sport industry. ASMA invites scholars, practitioners, and students to submit their work to be considered for the 2020 ASMA Conference. Submissions may include empirical research, case studies, conceptual/theoretical work, and teaching-related presentations.

We invite you to consider presenting at the 2020 Summit on Communication and Sport. The IACS Summit is the only standalone conference for communication researchers interested in exploring sport from diverse critical, methodological, and multi-disciplinary perspectives. We encourage you to submit papers that confirm, question, or critique the role of communication and sport on the horizon of a new decade.

In seeking to respond to many of the most significant and pressing factors currently confronting the sports industry, the conference theme for 2020 will be ‘the global politics of sport’. We particularly welcome abstracts from PhD students, early-career researchers and established academics whose research sheds critical light on the global opportunities, challenges and/or threats currently facing contemporary sport.

The conference will provide a platform for exchanging innovative thoughts and creating cooperation between researchers in the fields of sport management and economics. We are inviting proposals for paper presentations as well as complete sessions consisting of three papers/presenters. The conference will be organized in cooperation with the International Association of Sports Economists (IASE).

We seek research on some key themes: black sports journalists; coverage of black athletes and others involved in professional and non-professional sports (managers, coaches, owners); and coverage of race and racial tensions in sports. We are particularly interested in research that addresses intersections with race/ethnicity, gender, and sexuality or that identifies potential solutions to problems. We define “media” broadly.

We welcome qualitative researchers from all areas of sport and exercise. Past QRSE conferences have included submissions from the fields of sport and exercise psychology, sociology of sport, physical cultural studies, sport history, physical education, coaching, sports medicine, rehabilitation, health promotion, sport management, sport policy, and sport ecology.

We invite academics and practitioners to submit paper and/or panel proposals that analyse issues in one of the three broad pillars of EU Sport Policy as defined in the current EU Work Plan for Sport: Economic impact of sport, social inclusion in and through sport, and sport integrity. Contributions from diverse disciplines are accepted, and interdisciplinary papers are encouraged.

In this seminar, we will discuss the relationship between philosophy and empiricism in the subject of physical education. We will also investigate ways of renewing the subject of PE in schools using epistemological and research-based methods that are both relevant and culturally sensitive. Another focus of the seminar will be the relationship between school politics and the ways in which physical education promotes bodily learning.
