    I antologin Idrættens og civilsamfundets knaster: Kritiske samfundsvidenskabelige analyser (Syddansk Universitetsforlag) tar de olika författarna en närmare titt på några av de frågor inom idrott och civilsamhälle som ofta diskuteras. Varje avsnitt tar upp aktuella samhällsvetenskapliga frågor från en kritisk vinkel med syftet att skapa nya insikter som kan hjälpa till att övervinna "knastar" och skapa förändringar i civilsamhället och idrotten. Antologin, här recenserad av Mats Franzén, ges ut med anledning av 20-årsjubileet för Center for forskning i Idræt, Sundhed og Civilsamfund.

    An exemplary collection that captures the essence and intricacies of Nordic football culture

    Mihaly Szerovay and colleagues’ edited collection Football in the Nordic Countries: Practices, Equality and Influence (Routledge) explores football culture, organisation and development in the five Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden and Norway. To our reviewer Payam Ansari, the anthology offers a rich, multifaceted exploration of football on national, “glocal”, and global levels, making it a valuable addition to the field of sports sociology and a beacon for future research on football.

    A valuable contribution to the extensive literature on social capital in sport

    Drawing on primary research within voluntary sports clubs in the UK and secondary analysis of the wider international literature on social capital, Richard Tacon’s Social Capital and Sport Organisations (Routledge) focuses on the micro-processes of social capital development and how they play out in specific social settings. In his appreciative review, Karsten Elmose-Østerlund points out some unique features, such as a new conceptualization of social capital, and thorough qualitative case studies as empirical basis for his analyses.

    Characteristics of voluntary sports clubs with targeted initiatives for underrepresented population groups: The role of organisational goals, resources, structure and context

    The aim of this article by Karsten Elmose-Østerlund, Svenja Feiler, Christoph Breuer, Jenny Adler Zwahlen & Siegfried Nagel is to identify organisational characteristics of sports clubs that work strategically to integrate underrepresented population groups by offering targeted initiatives. Based on data from 30,000 European sports clubs, actors within all the four included aspects of organisational characteristics (goals, resources, structure and context) were found to be relevant for the implementation of targeted initiatives.
