The mission of Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport is to increase the understanding and advancement of legal issues as applied to all aspects of the sport paradigm. JLAS endeavors to publish peer-reviewed submissions, in any tradition of scholarship, that are of the highest scholarly quality and scientific rigor about legal aspects relating to sport, recreation, and related fields.

LAS is strongly committed to the publication of theoretical and applied research on law and policy issues from any tradition of scholarship. Published twice per year in February and August, JLAS is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed journal that has an interdisciplinary appeal to researchers and practitioners in the field.

The Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport (JLAS) is the only peer-reviewed journal for sport law research. While submissions grounded in traditional legal research are always welcomed, the Editorial Board and a team of talented reviewers for JLAS are also capable of reviewing qualitative research, quantitative research, or mixed-method approaches.

This JLAS issue aspires to elevate the discourse about social responsibility in sports by improving understanding of related legal and ethical rights and obligations. We welcome thoughtful articles that identify the legal and ethical tensions in this arena, and articulate principles and standards for protecting those rights and enforcing those obligations.

The Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport (JLAS) announces a call for papers for a special issue, entitled “Sport, Emerging Media, and the Law”. This special issue, which will be published in 2017, invites submissions that investigate potential legal and regulatory issues as they relate to digital and social media usage in the sport environment.
