Managing Sport Development: An International Approach, edited by Emma Sherry, Nico Schulenkorf, Pamm Phillips & Katie Rowe (Routledge) is an introduction to sport development, covering key concepts and theory as well as best practice in the management, implementation, and evaluation of sport development programs. Our reviewers, Derrick Charway and Josephine Traberg, give full marks albeit some reservations regarding the semantics involved in separating sport through, from sport for, development.

ESMQ publishes articles that contribute to our understanding of sport organizations. The Journal sets out to enhance our understanding of the role of sport management and sport bodies in social life. In Jörg Krieger’s and Stephan Wassong’s edited collection Dark Sides of Sport (Common Ground), leading international scholars explore multifaceted historical and contemporary challenges for sport. We asked Mark Brooke at the National University of Singapore for a review. Our reviewer is very appreciative of the book; it fills a void in the existing academic literature as it explores, in one book, various areas of deviance that pose a threat to sport.

Contributions to Andrew Adams’ and Leigh Robinson’s edited volume Who Owns Sport (Routledge Focus on Sport, Culture and Society) deal with the complex issue of ownership in sport from multiple disciplinary angles, including philosophy, history, political science and management. Mark Brooke is our reviewer, and he deems this slim volume essential reading for sport scholars.

The International Journal of Sport Policy and Politics aims to publish articles that address all aspects of sport policy irrespective of academic discipline. Articles that adopt a multi-disciplinary, inter-disciplinary or comparative approach are particularly welcome.

Sport, Education and Society encourages contributions from social scientists and educationalists studying the relationships between pedagogy, ‘the body’ and society as well as from all professionals with theoretical and empirical interests relating to policy, curriculum, social inclusion, equity and identity, and progressive educational development in physical activity, health and sport.
