Syftet med Dylan Salehs och Jørgen Kjærs studie var att undersöka före detta elitsatsande simmares upplevelse av avslutsprocessen inom idrottsgymnasiset och förstå varför de väljer att hoppa av. För att besvara detta baseras studien på nio intervjuer med elitsatsande simmare som ingått i idrottsgymnasium men valt att hoppa av under gymnasietiden eller direkt efter. Vidare analyseras detta med hjälp av två teoretiska ramverk, Ebaughs beslutsprocess och push/pull/anti-push/anti-pull-modellen.
To swim or not to swim? A qualitative interview study on why elite swimmers in sports high schools quit their swimming career
The aim of Dylan Saleh’s and Jørgen Kjær’s study is to examine how former elite swimmers experience the process of dropout when in sports high schools, and understand why these swimmers quit. To answer the research question the research team interviewed 9 elite swimmers who choose to drop out during or right after their time at a sports high school. The data was analyzed based on two theoretical frameworks, Ebaugh's decision-making process and the push/pull/anti-push/anti-pull model.
