The mission of IJSC is to provide a platform for academics and practitioners to disseminate research and information from diverse fields such as critical studies, sport management, advertising, etc. The Forum Editor’s pick from the current issue: SPORT AND THE CORONAVIRUS CRISIS SPECIAL ISSUE: AN INTRODUCTION by Brody J. This special issue of the World Leisure Journal will address leisure and aging internationally. While free time itself may have changed with the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, leisure behaviors and patterns have also shifted dramatically. We have seen a drastic reduction to leisure, with the pandemic affecting everything from international travel to opportunities for connection that typically occur in social leisure spaces.

Taking the timely but historically-rooted entanglements between the three – body, politics and nation seriously, we are particularly interested in submissions that highlight how the state and capitalism in their neoliberal iterations seek to control, mould, and discipline the body along the axes of gender, caste, race, sexuality, income etc. in their pursuit of power and profit.

The COVID-19 pandemic has upended all areas of life, and sports is no exception. Social distancing measures, brought in to limit the spread of coronavirus, have had a significant effect on sporting fixtures and participation. This special issue was initially solicited before the outbreak of the COVID-19 crisis; the Guest Editors have re-opened this call for papers to further consider valuable manuscripts dealing with COVID-19 and related economic issues in sport management.

We welcome submissions of quality discussion-based teaching case studies that examine recent management decisions faced by organizations operating within the sport industry in emerging markets. Cases about decisions related to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on sport management are encouraged, although this special issue will not focus exclusively on this crisis. The special issue will be published in 2021, for use by instructors globally.

The aim of this special issue is to explore the impacts of, and future challenges facing, sport from COVID-19. Contributions are welcome from across all settings, exploring all outcomes, and connected with personal, leadership, organisational, management and resourcing issues. We invite contributors to examine conceptually, empirically and theoretically, these impacts and future implications of Covid-19 on sport.
