    The purpose of the conference is to explore how children’s rights can be more deeply embedded into the everyday practices and lived experiences of children, young people and adults in sport and physical activity; to identify how children’s rights can be actively promoted within sport and physical activity; to share examples of good practice, reflections from projects and working reports from current initiatives; and to develop the relationship between research, policy and practice such that they inform each other and support a movement towards rights-based, rights-informed and rights-respecting practice becoming ‘normal’ practice.

    The majority of children in the Nordic countries are members of a sport association. In this conference we will focus on continuity and change in child and youth sport, as well as similarities and differences between the Nordic Countries. The conference is hosted by the Norwegian Research Centre for Children and Youth Sport and will be held over two days. On the first day, invited speakers from the nordic countries will present and discuss the topic. The presentations will held be in English.

    We welcome presentation on participation numbers in different groups, perceptions and values of children and youth sport and debated aspects of children’s sport. In addition, children’s rights in sport and different aspects of talent identification can be discussed and problematized. Additionally, the conference welcomes presentations contextualizing participation in sport against a background of leisure, migration and a changing society.

    Med konferencens tema ønsker vi blandt andet at styrke, forny og formidle viden om, hvilken betydning idræt og bevægelse har for børn og unges lære-, være- og udviklingsprocesser. Herunder er der også fokus på, hvordan idræt og bevægelse kan skabe glæde, engagement, trivsel, sundhed og læring. Konferencen har i særdeleshed fokus på nye tendenser indenfor det kvalitative område til at belyse disse emner.
