Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics Special Issue | “High Impact Practices in Intercollegiate Athletics”
JIIA encourages and supports interdisciplinary and interuniversity collaborative college-sport research, serves as a research consortium for college-sport researchers from across the United States, and disseminates college-sport research results. Abstracts should reflect (but are not limited to) research addressing social-cultural, legal, financial, economic, political, administrative, or historical college-sport issues. The research should have reached a fairly complete stage of development, and the abstract should provide enough detail about the research, so reviewers have sufficient information to judge the research’s quality.

This special issue of the Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics is designed to move our understandings of the experience college athletes have in their educational pursuits through a grounding in educational theory associated with academic engagement and success. It is unique from the extant research because it is intended to encourage scholarship that focuses on ways to increase participation in these activities.

To be considered for acceptance, abstracts should reflect college-sport research situated at the intersection of sport, politics, economics, law, sociology and society. Such research may investigate race/ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, nationalism/patriotism, or immigration issues within college sport. The research should have reached a fairly complete stage of development.
