The Sports Equity Lab is hosting a Winter School on Women’s Empowerment in Sports, taking place online via Zoom from December 14–18, 2026. We would be grateful if you could share this opportunity with your students and colleagues.

Our Winter School is a one-week intensive online program that examines gender equity in sport through the eyes of the people who shape it: athletes, governing bodies, researchers, and the sports industry. Over five days and fifteen sessions, participants move from athletes’ lived experiences through policy, science, and commerce.

The schedule is as follows (three sessions per day):

Day 1: Perspectives from Women Athletes
Day 2: Perspectives from Sports Governing Bodies and Professional Leagues
Day 3: Perspectives from Academics and Researchers
Day 4: Perspectives from Sport Business and Corporations
Day 5: Synthesis and Intersectional Lens

This design and the diversity of our speakers allow us to cover the topic from different angles and give participants a broader picture. Sessions take place in the morning, Pacific Time, to accommodate participants from outside North America. Each 60-minute session consists of a 35–40-minute presentation by a guest speaker, followed by a 15-minute Q&A.

While our primary audience is undergraduate and graduate students from around the world, applications are also open to motivated high school students, postdocs, early-career faculty, and industry professionals. These are the future athletes, advocates, researchers, and industry leaders of women’s sport, and the program is designed to give them frameworks, contacts, and concrete paths into the field.

The application deadline is December 1, 2026. Admission is on a rolling basis and may close earlier once capacity is reached. Tuition fee: US$600. The PDF flyer is attached below (pdf, double click to enlarge or download).
