The ESEA European Conference in Sports Economics is – together with the meeting of the NAASE (North American Association of Sports Economists) – the most important annual conference in the area of sports economics, which is a growing field of international research. It is an important meeting point for scholarly researchers from all over the world.

Past conferences have been hold in Paris, Cologne, Prague, and London. Thus, hosting the 5th ESEA conference is an honor for the SDU campus and the city of Esbjerg. Moreover, it is also a sign of the growing awareness and respect of the (still young) sport and event management group at SDU. It is estimated that approx. 125-150 participants will come to Esbjerg. Among these participants there will be a large group of scholarly researchers but also PhD and master students. The geographic origin of the participants is, thereby, not limited to Europe. Furthermore, also visitors from the USA, Canada, and Australia will be expected.
