Call for Participation | Sounding Out: Works in Progress at the Sport/Sound Nexis | Zoom event, Friday April 26, 2024, 1 PM EDT (7 PM CEST)

This event is a space for sharing works in progress that explore the connections between sports and sound. Participants will share unfinished projects at different stages of development and will have opportunities to engage with audience questions and feedback. The workshop is designed to provide a forum for constructive and supportive discussion of works in progress while also serving as a space to build community and encourage future collaborations among those interested in this topic.

This webinar aims to expand understandings of how sound in its many forms can provide novel sites for interdisciplinary analysis of sports and the moving body while harnessing creative methods for multimedia knowledge sharing and social activism. The webinar will consist of presentations from invited speakers discussing their explorations into sound and sport across research, media, and artistic domains. Presenters will also answer questions about their experiences working within the sport/sound nexus.

We invite academic and non-academic contributions on sound in multicultural sport across a range of forms. These contributions could be in the form of traditional academic papers or presentations; journalistic/nonfiction works; and/or creative sound work and sonic explorations of sport, physical cultures and multiculture. We welcome work at any stage of development that addresses the themes of the symposium.
