    In the contemporary sports industry and context, social issues, CSR and philanthropy have become integral parts of the sports landscape. The goal is to bring together multiple stakeholders, such as sports organizations, athletes, community sports nonprofits, sports business professionals, and the business community, and drive positive change towards shared visions. This Special Issue elucidates the multifaceted ways in which sports organizations, events, athletes and stakeholders, can embrace their role as catalysts for positive social change.

    There is a growing awareness of the need for collaborative governance in sport for social change. Collaborative governance of sport for social change concerns the way in which actors collaborate to tackle societal problems through sports. Although collaborative governance seems a logical and fitting instrument for working on sports for social change, this special issue further unpacks and problematizes the relation between collaborative governance and sport for social change.

    Konferensen sätter samverkan mellan forskning och praktik i fokus, och består av flera kortare föredrag från forskare som belyser möjligheter och utmaningar för att öka samhällets motståndskraft mot ett växande våld, genom fritidens och idrottens arenor. Utöver detta kommer dagen även innehålla presentationer från praktiker, paneldiskussioner samt en avslutande talare. Årets avslutande talare är David Ekholm, docent i socialt arbete, vid Linköpings universitet.

    The purpose of this special issue is to explore the link among social class, sport, and physical activity. We seek quantitative, qualitative, and conceptual papers that investigate the ways that wealth, social class background, and power intersect to influence the opportunities people have to consume sport, their chances to be physically active, their experiences as sport consumers, and how they experience work in sport organizations.

    Call for Book Chapters | Social Justice and the Modern Athlete: Exploring the Role of Athlete Activism in Social Change | Call ends April 30, 2021

    The overarching focus of the book is to explore the role athletes have played in raising awareness of and advancing social justice issues. Authors are asked to consider various aspects of athlete involvement and influence, using a wide range of theoretical perspectives. Please note that although the book will provide an early historical chapter as the foundation for exploring athlete activism, it focuses on the past 30 years (1990-present), reaching beyond the Civil Rights era.

    We welcome submissions employing a range of disciplinary, methodological, and theoretical approaches. We define sport broadly and would welcome work in competitive, recreational, leisure and physical activity contexts, addressing the relationship between sport and community. That is, work should engage in some way beyond individuals and explore ideas of community, authenticity, relationships, context, place, collectivity, inclusion, belonging, social justice, or a common good.

Despite its importance for the development of sport, sport innovation has not received the scholarly attention it deserves. As a research field, sport innovation is still new and relatively under-developed.
