Announcing PhD Course: Culture, Sport and Society | Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sport (NEXS), University of Copenhagen, November 11–15, 2024
The course will emphasize how the individual doctoral student can improve their scientific skills in order to carry out their own research projects and participate in public and academic debates in relation to sport studies, thereby offering the potential to have a significant impact upon society. The course is particularly intended to stimulate ethical, innovative and creative perspectives on sport and culture, while at the same time realizing the responsibility and autonomy of being a researcher.

Have you seen football players running around the training field in sports bras over their uniforms? In this "vest", the players have a tracking device that measures distance, speeds, and accelerations, and thus the external load on the body. In periods with a tight match program and many training sessions, this tool can help the players manage how hard they should train and when they should rest. But what does it really mean that a player runs 10,000 m in training or in a match?

The aim of the conference is to bring together academics and researchers of all areas of sports. Participants can present on sports topics within broad streams of research areas. Consistent with the theme of ATINER’s small academic events, all programs may include a few sessions on current topics in education and research. Please note that all our conferences are non-thematic as explained in our policy. However, academic members and friends can take the lead to organize and chair a stream as part of this conference.

This Special Issue aims to explore the multifaceted relationship between physical activity, sport, emotions, and cognitive processes. We invite scholars from various disciplines to contribute original research articles, reviews, and theoretical papers. We welcome contributions from across diverse academic backgrounds or from any relevant field. We encourage original research articles presenting empirical findings, literature reviews summarizing the current state of knowledge, and theoretical papers that propose novel frameworks as well as hypotheses.
