This conference is intended to provide a platform for considering the social, political and cultural significance of both combat as spectacle and sport and war, without restriction of time and space. With the Royal Armouries, the national collection of arms and armour, as the backdrop, it seeks to link the latest intellectual discoveries with the benefits of working up-close with collections and artefacts.

The Sport&EU 19th annual conference will be organised by the University of Naples Federico II in Naples, Italy, on 30th June and 1st July 2025. The organizing committee is now open to receiving proposals for individual papers. As each year, the Sport&EU conference strives to have a distinctly multi-disciplinary character. ​Following our traditional policies of equality and diversity, Sport&EU encourages PhD students and young career academics to submit their proposals for this conference.
