Charlotte Downing’s doctoral research project Early Specialising Aesthetic Performance: A investigation of conceptualisation, motivation, and context is situated within the wider debate of talent development in so-called early sports, where early specialisation is often normalised. Joe Baker was the external reviewer, and he was kind enough to rewrite his review at the public defence into a book review for idrottsforum.org. He was also very pleased with Downing’s dissertation.

TSP is a scholarly refereed journal designed as a forum to stimulate thought and disseminate knowledge that focuses on the application and practice of sport psychology. Syftet med detta doktorandforskningsprojekt är att undersöka tidig specialisering inom svenska estetiska idrotter och dans. Utöver de specifika forskningsfrågor som besvarats i fyra enskilda studier så har avhandlingen två övergripande forskningsfrågor som båda gäller kontexten svenska estetiska aktiviteter: 1) vad kännetecknar tidig specialisering? och 2) på vilka sätt är aspekter av tidig specialisering relaterade till motivation?

IJSEP publishes empirical and theoretical contributions in the science of physical activity, human movement, exercise, and sport. The journal’s Editors and Editorial Board encourage researchers and scholars worldwide to submit their work for publication.
