The aim of this conference is to provide a platform for the knowledge exchange between scholars (from a range of disciplines), stakeholders, and practitioners who are united by a focus on sports media. The event will take stock of the current position by examining notable case studies from the recent past, and aims to foster new inter- and/or post-disciplinary trajectories and scholarship/practitioner collaborations.

This one-day symposium will be of interest to early career researchers and academics from a range of disciplines who are interested in exploring the construction of gendered identity in modern mediated sport, and who would like to make an ongoing contribution to an interdisciplinary understanding of sports media.

Titillating or tortuous, appealing or atrocious, skimpy or serious, the uniforms that sportswomen wear have long been under scrutiny. Emphasizing the language of sport, proposals are invited for this edited volume with a working title of Uniformly discussed: Sportswomen’s apparel, with Palgrave Macmillan as a probable publisher.

We are particularly interested in work that addresses intersections with race/ethnicity and sexuality, and that identifies possible implications, impacts and potential solutions to problems.”
