Football fandom between traditionalism and modern consumerism
Oliver Brooks’ ethnographic study of conflicting football fan cultures, Football, Fandom and Consumption (Routledge), builds on studies of three football clubs, Norwich City, MK Dons and Chelsea. The book is generously sprinkled with instructive quotes from football fans, much appreciated by our reviewer, Andy Fuller. Brooks’ study left him with a strong sense of having had his insights into contemporary UK fan cultures thoroughly enhanced.
