Research investigating interactions between humans and their natural environment, including the link between sport and climate change, planetary health, education for sustainable development, sustainable behavior, sustainable management strategies, civic engagement or political strategies in the sport and physical activity context are highly welcome.

This thematic issue will include a broad range of perspectives on football from science and medicine (e.g. physiology, exercise science, biomechanics), the humanities (e.g. philosophy, history, physical education) as well as social and behavioral academic disciplines (e.g. sociology, psychology, sport management) to arrive at a multifaceted description and theoretical understanding of the world’s most popular sport.
