Altitude training is legal, but as soon as you use EPO to achieve the same you are banned. In some countries animals are beefed up with anabolic steroids, if you eat cheap meat and are tested you are banned for being doped. As it is difficult to define what actually constitutes doping, a list of prohibited substances is published annually. Nevertheless, Prof. Thevis, the leading German expert on doping control, claims that about one hundred performance enhancing drugs are around for which no testing exists yet.
