“The greatest tennis writer ever”
David Foster Wallace (1962–2008) was a successful novelist and essayist, as well as professor of English and creative writing. String Theory: David Foster Wallace on Tennis (New American Library) contains his five essays on tennis, written between 1991 and 2006. Our reviewer is Dave Buchanan, and he is thoroughly impressed with Wallace’s writings, while the actual book is “a totally cool physical object”.
