    Call for Papers | “Exercise: Practices of Bodies, Minds, and Knowing”, German Studies Association Seminar | Atlanta, GA, September 26–29, 2024. Call ends February 23, 2024

    What is exercise? What are its origins, functions, and ramifications? This seminar asks how exercise has shaped practices of body and mind in the German-speaking world, whether in the context of sports, dance, military training, labor, spiritual/ethical cultivation, philosophical meditation, or aesthetics. We invite contributions from literary studies, history, sport studies, dance studies, art history, gender studies, philosophy, critical ethnic and race studies, film studies and other pertinent fields. We especially welcome transnational interventions.

    Eight months on from the release of the ICEC’s report, this conference will examine the state of English and Welsh cricket in a post-ICEC world. How has the ECB responded? What still needs to change? And how can cricket writers, researchers and supporters come together to make that change possible? The conference is being organised by the Cricket Research Network, which is chaired by Dr Raf Nicholson. The conference will serve as the launch of the network.

    Seminarium om ridsportens ledarskap och sund idrottsmiljö

    Till seminariet samlas beslutsfattare, forskare, tränare samt andra nyckelpersoner inom ridsporten. De som deltar inledningsvis är Susanna Hedenborg, professor på Malmö universitet, Karin Redelius, professor på GIH, och Therese Waerner, doktorand på GIH. De kommer att lyfta forskningen och samtala om ledarskap och delaktighet samt hur kan vi öka ungas delaktighet inom ridsporten.

    Thomas Fuchs will present his latest book In Defence of the Human Being. Foundational Questions of an Embodied Anthropology. He will, for the first time in Norway, present this important contribution to current discussions on artificial intelligence (AI), transhumanist visions and virtual reality and open discussion with the audience on the technological, and cultural tendencies that will influence our society’s development in the 21st century.

    Svenska Fotbollförbundet, Elitprojekt herr 2020-23, bjuder in till forskningsseminarium. Seminariet, där forskningsresultat från studier genomförda i svensk fotboll presenteras, arrangeras tillsammans med Institutionen för kost- och idrottsvetenskap vid Göteborgs Universitet. Seminariet är kostnadsfritt och riktar sig till tränare, ledare och fystränare i elitmiljöer samt forskare och studenter med intresse av fotboll. Anmälan krävs. Sista anmälningsdag är den 16 december 2022.
