    Call for Participants | Mega-events and sustainable cities: oxymoron or opportunity? Online event hosted by University of Westminster, November 14, 2022, 1300–1430 GMT

    Join online on the 14th Novembe, in the week running up to the Qatar World Cup, to discuss the sustainability of mega-events. Hear from some of the world’s leading researchers on this topic to discuss whether the notion of a sustainable mega-event is an oxymoron, or whether these events can be aligned with sustainable urbanism. Speakers include Professor Martin Muller, Professor Eleni Theodoraki and Dr. Mahfoud Amara, as well as Dr. Rutendo Musikavanhu.

    The Department of Sport and Social Sciences has a vacant PhD position with 25% teaching responsibilities in the field of sport marketing. There is the possibility to apply for one out of two alternative predefined PhD projects. One project will be focusing on sport marketing and the digital transformation in sport, and the second on sport marketing and sustainable development. Apply no later than December 5, 2022.

    As social entrepreneurship continues to evolve in the sport industry, there is a need for conducting and disseminating research to further this emerging area, as well as educate those unfamiliar with the importance of this concept. The goal of this call is to publish research that identifies the characteristics and models of social entrepreneurship and how those concepts apply to the sport industry.

    Susanna Geidne is a Senior Lecturer in Sport Science and an Associate professor in Public Health with focus on Health promotion at the Division of Sport Science at Örebro University. She focuses on practice-based health promotion research with sports (in a broad sense) as an arena. This includes methodologically diverse research on for example health promoting sports clubs (HPSC).

    Cycling and Society Research Group 2022 asks: what role can cycling play in questioning the emphasis on growth, lack of inclusivity, and relative neglect of Global South contexts? Accordingly, we seek submissions from cycling researchers who wish to engage with themes of sufficiency and no/de-growth; social value and its measurement; alternate qualities (e.g beyond speed, efficiency and directness); mobility justice and inclusivity; and post-colonial mobilities.

    This call seeks to examine diverse scholarship on the possibilities and challenges of expanding social, cultural, political and embodied connections to place, space and ‘nature’.  Because many tools are needed to examine the complexity of these issues, we welcome papers that engage with a variety of approaches; especially research that is imaginative and considered in the application of empirical, theoretical, speculative or other methods.

    Forskarskolan Hållbar rörelseutbildning i förskolor och skolor är en utbildningsvetenskaplig forskarskola. Den syftar till att öka kunskapen kring de pedagogiska utmaningar som är förknippade med uppdraget att erbjuda daglig rörelse för barn och elever i förskolor och skolor, inklusive förskoleklass och fritidshem. Syftet är också att stärka kompetensen inom lärarutbildning kring frågor om daglig rörelse i förskolor och skolor.
