We went abroad to find a suitable reviewer – not a Swede but Swedish speaking – and Ansgar Molzberger accepted the cumbersome task of reviewing this 556 page tome. Svensk idrottsforskning fyller 50!

Sedan historikern Jan Lindroth disputerade med sin avhandling om idrotten som folkrörelse 1974 har det gått ett halvt sekel, och således firar svensk idrottsforskning sitt femtioårsjubileum 2024. Under perioden har idrottsvetenskap vuxit fram som ett nytt utbildnings-, forsknings- och forskarutbildningsämne. Idag finns det idrottsvetenskapliga institutioner eller motsvarande vid tio lärosäten, och fem av dem har forskarutbildning. Forskningsämnena, som från början var pedagogik, historia och psykologi, omfattar idag över trettio olika ämnesdiscipliner.

Inger Eliasson, PhD, is an associate professor in Education at the Department of Education and Umeå School of Sport Sciences, Umeå University, Sweden. Her research focuses on behavioral processes associated with upbringing and socialization in children’s sport, children’s rights, the abuse of children in sports, and gendered and generational issues within children’s sport and sport coaching but also about team sports for older people.

Förändring av problematisk maskulinitet: En fallstudie av pojkars utbildning i idrottens omklädningsrum

Syftet med den här studien av Inger Eliasson och Jesper Fundberg var att genom en fallstudie analysera iscensättning och erfarenheter av en pedagogisk intervention genomförd med pojkar aktiva i lagidrott i Sverige, vilken syftade till att förändra problematisk maskulinitet i det svenska samhället. Fallstudien är av etnografisk karaktär där en autentisk utbildningsprocess följs och studeras genom observationer, intervjuer och dokument.

Transforming Problematic Masculinity: A Case Study of Boys’ Education in the Sports Locker Room

The purpose of the study by Inger Eliasson and Jesper Fundberg was through a case study to analyze the staging and experiences of an educational intervention carried out with team sports active boys in Sweden, which aimed to change a problematic masculinity in Swedish society. The case study is ethnographic in nature where an authentic educational process is followed and studied through observations, interviews and documents.
