The body is an intensely personal site for creativity and self-expression, yet even the most unique styles of dress reflect larger communities—people, places, and legacies that we care about and draw inspiration from. Whether we understand them as ‘imagined communities’, ‘communities of practice’, or something else, we as artists, designers, activists, educators, and scholars give to and take from communities. We often make our connections visible through material culture such as clothing, jewelry, headwear, footwear, and body modifications.

he Westminster Menswear Archive at the University of Westminster is pleased to announce a major new exhibition exploring 100 years of British sportswear and its influence of fashion designers around the world. The exhibition will held at the University of Westminster's Ambika P3 exhibit space in Marylebone, London and will be open from the 12th of April to the 28th of April 2024 between the hours of 11 am-7 pm every day.

This issue aims to speak to both historical and contemporary issues in leisure studies by focusing on how understandings and debates around clothing in sports/leisure have been rethought, as well as the diversity of new issues around dress that have arisen in the 21st century. I welcome cross-disciplinary, cross-cultural, cross-geographical submissions that can speak to issues surrounding clothing, fashion, and leisure, from a range of academic fields.
