Now, more than ever, due to the fact that seconds can determine 1<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333330154419px; line-height: 20px;\">st<\/span>\u00a0and 2<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333330154419px; line-height: 20px;\">nd<\/span>\u00a0place, coaches and athletes want to learn more\/ know more in order to achieve those marginal gains.<\/p>\n<p>Every day scientists are conducting studies to gain insight on energy metabolism from both a mechanistic and whole body stand point. This session brings together three of the worlds leading top scientists, with over 40 years of experience in energy metabolism. The speakers will provide an overview of the latest research into the regulation of fat and carbohydrate metabolism and, more importantly, how we can translate this knowledge in to applied sporting situations.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_583\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-583\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-583\" src=\"http:\/\/idrottsforum.org\/ecss2015malmo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Bente-Klens-150x150.png\" alt=\"Bente Klens\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-583\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bente Klens<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The first speaker is Prof. Bente Kiens from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Prof. Kiens will present on the regulation of fat metabolism during and post exercise and discuss what we currently know and what is still under debate. Dr. Kiens will also give a practical perspective on this topic and answer the question \u201cis there is an optimal strategy for reducing body weight without health implications or without reducing performance?\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_582\" style=\"width: 161px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-582\" class=\"wp-image-582\" src=\"http:\/\/idrottsforum.org\/ecss2015malmo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Erik-Richter-143x150.png\" alt=\"Erik Richter\" width=\"151\" height=\"171\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-582\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Erik Richter<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The second speaker is Prof. Erik Richter from the University of Copenhagen, Demark. The title of Prof. Richter\u2019s talk is \u201cNovel Regulatory Mechanisms in the Regulation of Glucose and Potential Innovation Nutrition Strategies for Athletes\u201d. He will present work focusing on muscle contraction induced glucose uptake and the importance of this during exercise and in the post-exercise period.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_581\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-581\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-581\" src=\"http:\/\/idrottsforum.org\/ecss2015malmo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Lawrence-Spriet-150x150.png\" alt=\"Lawrence Spriet\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-581\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lawrence Spriet<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The final talk of this session is by Dr. Lawrence Spriet, University of Guelph, Canada.
