Routledge has requested a proposal for a collection examining Sport, Film and National Culture. The book will be the first major single volume collection to survey the significance and interaction of these three prominent cultural forces internationally, through in-depth case-studies of the historical and contemporaneous relationship between sport, film (including fiction, non-fiction, animated and newsreels), and national culture; interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspectives are welcomed. Proposals for chapters may consider (though are not limited to):
- Case studies of the interaction of sport, film and national culture
- Examinations of the distinctive depiction of specific national cultures through sport in film.
- Comparative studies of the depiction of national culture in sport films
