Call for Papers | ON SURF International Conference | The Portuguese Olympic Committee, Lisbon, July 20–22, 2023. Call ends March 30, 2023

The ON SURF conference is a meeting place between knowing and doing. An open space of thought and action, whose main objective is to establish bridges. The conference, focused on the relationship between Philosophy and Sport, also aims to open the field of reflection to different areas of knowledge, intending to provide the opportunity to think freely and have the widest possible scope. Offering an open academic environment where the Philosophy of Sport will certainly provide an open horizon for reflections and contributions from the entire spectrum of academic knowledge, promoting and sharing of research, thought and practice, in 2023 we aim to create an unforgettable conference ON SURF and all the surrounding culture, economy, and sports.

The conference will be free and open in spirit, but encourages submission of proposals, as mere suggestion, on the following topics:

      1. Body and Nature;
      2. Sport, economy, and tourism;
      3. Surf and technology;
      4. Surf and the arts (cinema, poetry, literature, etc);
      5. Surfing and diversity: bodyboarding, kite surfing, windsurfing, body surfing, etc;
      6. Surfing and associated disciplines: Psychology, Sociology of sport, Anthropology, and History of surfing, etc;
      7. Sport, health, and care;
      8. Surfing and violence;
      9. Surf and ecology;
      10. Surf, technology, and digital nomads;
      11. Sea, waves, and science;
      12. Surf, local history, traditions
      13. Surf and modalities associated with the mind and the care of the self (mindfulness, yoga, etc).

Abstracts should be sent to constantinomar@gmail.com with a small biographical note and may be submitted in English or Portuguese. Presentations will be 20 minutes in English or Portuguese. Conference proceedings will be published in e-book format in English and Portuguese.
