This is the first call for papers for the 2017 ANZALS conference to be held in Hobart, on Australia’s scenic southern island, from 4-7 December 2017.
The event will be hosted by the University of Tasmania through a collaboration between the Institute for Regional Development, the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics, the Faculty of Health and the Tourism Research and Education Network (TRENd).
The conference promises to deliver an outstanding academic and social program. The ANZALS 2017 theme is “Leisure as an agent for social change”. The Organising Committee welcomes papers, via a number of sub-themes:
- Health and leisure – intersections, contestations and collaborations
- Sport and development: agent of change
- Cultural tourism
- Humans, animals, leisure and social change
- Tourism for social change
- Arts, leisure and social capital
- Leisure management
- Other topics that relate to the conference theme
Confirmed keynote speakers include Professor Simon Darcy, School of Management, University of Technology Sydney Business School; and Professor Can Seng Ooi, Professor of Cultural Tourism at the University of Tasmania. Other speaker announcements will be made in due course.
Abstracts are encouraged which address the sub-themes of the conference. Abstracts are due by 31 May 2017. Please send the abstracts to Hazel.Maxwell@utas.edu.au
Please follow the guidelines below when submitting your abstract:
- Abstracts should be 250-350 words,
- Use Arial 12,
- Provide the full title of paper as it will appear in the conference programme (in bold),
- Include a list of authors, First Name, Surname and Institutional affiliation (in italics),
- In the abstract main body, include the background (outline of the context and/or academic literature informing the research), your approach (indication of the broad theoretical orientation and/or methodological approach) and the significance of your research (description and application of the original research findings reported in the paper), and
- State which conference sub-theme the paper is aimed.
In addition please include a 150 word biography of the author/s intending to present at the conference.
