The second annual International Football History Conference will take place at the City Football Academy, Manchester City Football Club, Manchester M11 3FF, England and will be held over two days (7 and 8 June 2018).
Key Note Speakers: Chris Bolsmann, Stefan Szymanski & Matthew Taylor.
This is a call for papers to be presented at the second International Football History conference. There will be an opportunity to present on any topic relating to the history of football. We are particularly keen to include papers focusing on football’s origins, race, discrimination, identity, the World Cup (and football’s mega events, including RFU World Cup, the Superbowl & continental footballing tournaments), gender, and issues within football (including football of all codes).
Following feedback at the 2017 conference, this year we have the following presentation formats:
- 20 minute presentations (no questions)
- 15 minute presentations plus 5 minutes of questions (20 mins total)
- Pecha kucha (20 slides 20 seconds per slide, 6m 40 secs) plus a brief period of questions within a panel format
- 1 hour panel session (format decided by speakers, but minimum of 3 speakers on a related theme per panel)
200 word abstracts/proposals should be sent to our new conference email address (email@example.com) by 30 December 2017.
Abstracts are welcomed from researchers from any discipline, so long as they adhere to the themes of the conference. With each abstract submission please state clearly the style of presentation: 20 mins; 15+5; Pecha Kucha; or Panel. For those submitting a panel proposal please provide the names of all presenting together with an overview of the panel and theme.
