The 2013 AIESEP Specialist Seminar will take place this week at the University of Jyväskylä, FIN (September 12th-14th). It will focus on discussion around key questions in the area of PETE, as well as future research directions, funding and collaborations. Details and last news are available at www.jyu.fi/aiesep2013.

The 2014 AIESEP World Congress will be held in Auckland (NZL) February 10-13. The theme of the Congress is “Educating for active healthy citizens.” Abstract reviewing is on progress. Accepted authors must register by 28 October, 2013; Early-bird registrations close 29 November, 2013. More info on: www.aiesep2014.com.

Additionally, there will be a Pre-Congress Symposium before the AIESEP World Congress on February 9, 2014 in Auckland, NZL organized by the TGfU Special Interest Group “Using TGfU to promote active and healthy citizens”. This special one-day symposium will focus on the latest research and advances in teaching games framed by TGfU approaches. It provides a special opportunity for teachers to mix with leading TGfU experts from around the world. For more information please visit www.tgfu.info

Moreover, on 16-17 February 2014 (immediately after the AIESEP World congress in Auckland), the University of Canterbury (NZL) will organize an International Symposium on Physical Education & Sport Studies Physical Education and Sport: Current dilemmas and future possibilities’. A partner of AIESEP, ARIS (Association for the Research on Intervention in Sport) is an international association gathering sport pedagogy researchers of the French speaking world. The University of Sydney, AUS, will host a one-day conference entitled, ‘Game Sense for Teaching and Coaching’ on November 7, 2013. The conference aims to provide a regional forum for discussions, debate and the development of Game Sense and other game-based approaches. The Sydney Game Sense conference draws together researchers and practitioners from within the Asia Pacific region, focused on what Game Sense has to offer for teachers and coaches. The conference comprises 15 minute oral presentations and practical demonstrations of Game Sense teaching and coaching. The Laboratory for Diversity in Sport announces the 2013 Diversity in Sport and Physical Activity Grant. The Special Interest Group (SIG) in Research on Learning and Instruction in Physical Education of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) AERA encourages you to participate in the 2014 AERA Annual Meeting to be held Thursday, April 3 – Monday, April 7, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. This year’s Annual Meeting Theme: “The Power of Education Research for Innovation in Practice and Policy.”

The 7th International Scientific Conference on Kinesiology will be held on May 22-25, 2014 in Opatija, CRO. It will be organized by the Faculty of Kinesiology-University of Zagreb. The topic will be ‘Fundamental and Applied Kinesiology – Steps Forward’. A physical education section is planned. Paper submission is for January 15, 2014. On June 2-4, 2014, the Palacký University in Olomouc, Faculty of Physical Culture, Czech Republic will organize the 7thInternational Conference ‘Movement and Health’. The conference will be in English, and will include some workshops, round tables and other informal meetings. The major focus of the conference will be on ‘Child and adolescent physical activity: Determinants and outcomes’. The purpose of the Conference is to bring together researchers, professionals and other interested persons in the health, exercise and sport sciences, preventive medicine, and physical activities management with special interest in the population of children and adolescents. Deadline for abstracts submission: 15thJanuary 2014. The 10th International Seminar for Physical Education Teachers 2014 will be organized in Vierumäki, FIN (August 3-8, 2014) in parallel with the FIEP World Congress 2014 (August 5-8, 2014). The theme of the seminar is to learn new skills, share practical ideas, knowledge and experiences while the congress topic is focused on ‘Promoting Wellbeing in School environment. Some news from ICCP. (1)  First of all, some exciting news about the next conference. It will take place in Brussels, BEL from 2nd to 4th February 2015; (2) ICCP has been involved in producing a General Comment on Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The General Comment 17 has been published and will be officially launched in Geneva on 30th September. The full text of the General Comment is available on the website (www.iccp-play.org); (3) A new journal on playwork will be published early next year (‘Journal of Playwork Practice’) and has just announced its first call for papers. The journal ‘Kinesiology – International Journal of Fundamental and Applied Kinesiology’ is published by the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Zagreb.
