International Football History Conference, 15-16 June 2017, Manchester, UK

The inaugural International Football History Conference will take place at the City Football Academy, Manchester City Football Club, Manchester M11 3FF, England and will be held over two days (15 and 16 June 2017).

The schedule of speakers has been finalised and we can now confirm there will be key note speeches from Prof Wray Vamplew, Prof Tony Collins and Manchester City’s Brian Marwood.  There is a fantastic collection of papers being presented with contributions from leading academics from across the globe including many leaders in their field.  A draft schedule can be accessed here (please note this is subject to change, including some timings).

Conference organiser Dr Gary James has been pleased with the interest so far: “We are particularly delighted to include papers focusing on football’s origins, regional histories, gender, race and issues within football from across the globe. This promises to be a significant conference and one which aims to provide networking opportunities, as well as the potential for collaborations.”

A special edition of the journal Soccer & Society will be produced with selected articles presented at the conference, and Routledge Books have donated £200 of books towards a best paper prize.
